These tarts are easily customizable to your favorite cheese & jam flavors. As a delicious appetizer or not so sweet dessert, they’re perfect for your next get together. Should you have a larger group, double the recipe by making both sheets of the packaged puff pastry.
Active Time: 10 min.
Total Time: 30 min.
Servings: 12
Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry dough
⅓ cup apricot, strawberry jam, or preferred flavor jam
3-4 oz goat cheese or cream cheese softened
¼ cup chopped walnuts (roasted & salted)
1 egg + 1 tablespoon water (egg wash) hot honey or plain honey
Roadmap:
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out thawed puff pastry to seal folds and slice into 12 equal pieces. Place the pieces on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and score each piece to make about a 1/4 inch edge.
- Spread softened goat cheese into the center of each piece of pastry.
- Spoon the apricot jam over top of the goat cheese and sprinkle with chopped walnuts. (You can brush the edges of the puff pastry with an egg wash–an egg whisked with a tablespoon of water– for a glossy look).
- Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until puff pastry is golden brown and a drizzle of hot honey. Cool for several minutes before serving.
