Nutella twists

Deep chocolate & buttery pastry twisted together. 

Simplicity sometimes is best.

Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets 10 by 10 inch)
  • 3/4 cup Nutella
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped dark or semi sweet chocolate
  • 1 egg + 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Roadmap:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Unfold 1 sheet of the puff pastry onto a lightly floured work surface. Lightly roll the pastry with a rolling pin to crease together the folds. Spread half of the chocolate hazelnut spread on the sheet, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle on chopped chocolate.
  3. Take strip and twist it with your hands. Place it onto the parchment paper lined baking sheet. In a small bowl, beat egg & water together to create egg wash. Lightly brush the twist with the egg wash. Repeat with the second sheet of puff pastry.
  4. Bake at 400F for 15-20 minutes or until golden and flakey.
  5. Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes on the baking sheet before sprinkling with powdered sugar, slicing and serving.
